Authors
Cara Goldthorpe
Cara Goldthorpe, co-founder of Breakwater Harbor Books, is a novelist and poet. Her current project is a literary fiction/fantasy series telling the tale of a war between two races. It is a story about people, emotion and survival, infused with hope and optimism. Personal struggle is portrayed equally alongside the struggles of empires, to highlight the individual’s importance and role in the universe.
The main themes in Cara’s writing concern finding ‘balance’ through an understanding of multiple perspectives, and peace by living harmoniously with Nature. Drawing inspiration from real-world history, science, and religion, her work subtly provokes reflection on society and human nature.
“I enjoyed ‘The Awakening: Dawn of Destruction’ in terms of its plot development, scope for action and fantasy nature. Any title that has a storyteller for a heroine gets a great big tick from me. Adrianna’s stories are vital to her development within the book, her use of words to bewitch her audiences and to ultimately gain her a better place in society. [Cara has] a great knack for description, it flows well. This text is very visual and rightly so. Poverty, wealth, faith, and protection are key elements to this tale.” - HarperCollins' review of The Awakening: Dawn of Destruction

Scott J. Toney
February 2013 - One of the "TOP 100 MOST POPULAR AMAZON KINDLE BOOKS" in Religious Science Fiction / Fantasy - The Ark of Humanity
Scott J. Toney, co-founder of Breakwater Harbor Books, lives in Virginia with his wife and daughter. His first book, The Ark of Humanity, is a what-if mer novel based on the story of Noah and the flood. His most recent work is the Romantic Suspense novel, Hearts of Avon. He has also written a book titled Lazarus, Man, a fictional tale through the eyes of Lazarus of Bethany after rising from the grave. Scott holds degrees in Journalism and Public Relations and marks his greatest achievement as his family.
"I can see comparisons to Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy in some of the themes raised [in The Ark of Humanity]. As with Pullman's 'daemons', the relationship between the beings and their companions who transport them is particularly enjoyable, a relationship which also reminded me of the dragons in the film 'Avatar'. I can see this as a fantastic storyboard for a Pixar film." - HarperCollins' review of The Ark of Humanity

December 2012 to May 2013 - One of the "TOP 100 MOST POPULAR AMAZON KINDLE AUTHORS" in Sci-Fi
Mike Lee lives and works in Denver, Colorado, as a psychotherapist. He started writing letters to the editor in local newspapers shortly after graduate school, and was pleasantly surprised when they occasionally were run as guest columns. Later, he was solicited to write articles on psychology for a woman's magazine in Bulgaria. He began writing fiction in 2010, and found he enjoyed it. Now he writes fiction whenever his private psychology practice affords him the time. He can be reached at MikeLeeStories@gmail.com, and is always happy to hear from readers. The dog in the photo is his good friend and constant companion, Dotty.
"Starfire is a truly superb book, one of the few of the hundreds I've read this year that stands out by itself. Beautifully crafted, very good cadence, great reflection by the main hero, who does not always occupy center stage. Lots of mystery left to ponder, this author does not insult the intelligence of the reader but compliments it - and that is rare. The characters are well developed according to their roles and aren't just mirrors for the main character. The plot is plausible and not drowned in technology while being quite comfortable with it." - Dennis Campbell's review of StarFire

Melissa Simonson
March 2013 - One of the "TOP 100 MOST POPULAR AMAZON KINDLE BOOKS" in Horror - Doubles
Melissa Simonson has been writing on and off since she was in highschool, but didn’t start taking it seriously until about four years ago. She’s a caffeine addict, a terrible driver, and has weird fascinations with rosary beads, complicated cocktails, and basically anything considered dark or creepy.
Since she saw him in her favorite movie Snatch, Melissa has wanted to marry Jason Statham.
When she’s not writing, she can be found watching endless hours of Dexter or rolling her eyes at her mother.
"This is the best book in the Thriller genre that I've read in a few years, and I must say I read LOTS of Thriller books. I never expected to love the book the way I did, and after reading page 1 of this Manuscript I went on and on and just couldn't stop. I'm a slow reader in general, but with DOUBLES I just wanted to keep reading faster and faster as I really wished to find out what would happen next." - J.W.'s review of Doubles

Mindy Haig
Mindy Haig is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick New Jersey. She was born and raised in New Jersey and is very much a city slicker. Haig moved to Florida to marry her sweetheart after college and marveled at how little there was to do and how much one had to drive to do it! But due to a job change and an abrupt move, she settled in Austin, Texas where the motto is 'Keep Austin Weird' and she trys her best to uphold it! She is the mother of 2 great kids and though writing has always been a pursuit Haig was interested in, being a Mommy got in the way for quite a few years. Mindy decided she would give it a fair shake in 2009 and hasn't been able to quit since. Haig has 4 completed novels and 4 additional started novels plus 2 sequels all in various stages of gestation. She has a hard time stopping her ideas and when a seemingly great idea hits - typically just as she attempts to fall asleep - she is compelled to start an outline.
"This is such a magical, beautiful read. I have never read a book like it before, and as I read, I was transported into this amazing world of a love spanning time. It is a wonderful Chic-Lit / Romance that is a fantastic read for all ages. If you're looking for a unique, well written and heart inspiring read, then The Wishing Place is for you. I'll be sharing it with my wife and my mom soon. I cannot suggest it enough!" - author Scott J. Toney's review of The Wishing Place

Claire C Riley
Claire C Riley, is a mother first, a wife second, but a writer at heart.
Claire likes to break boundaries with her writing, incorporating an old school style of horror and romance. Sexy and dark. (Think Bram Stokers Dracula, but for the 21st century!) She is a mother to three amazing little girls who hold her heart. She hopes to make them proud, and show them that if you work hard and believe in yourself... then, as Cinderella once said... dreams really do come true.
She is an avid book collector and has a great zombie apocalypse plan in place thanks to a questionnaire she asked her readers to fill in for her posted on her blog! Claire is currently working on the sequel to Limerence and also a dystopian post-apocalyptic zombie novel called- Odium.
"I don't even know how to describe this book. It doesn't neatly fit into any categories. If you like the typical paranormal romances or urban fantasy novels, but want to read something darker with less sunshine and sparkles, you should pick this book up. It is wonderfully horrific and disturbing at times, but also romantic and suspenseful. I was excited by the brave choices that the author made with some of the characters. I thought the ending was amazing! It was not at all what I was expecting and that made me love it more." - Jacqueline Bonner's review of Limerence

Eli Constant
Eli Constant lives in Virginia with her husband and two daughters. She is surrounded by battlefield country, farmland, and lakes. Currently, she spends her days being a devoted mother and, of course, writing. Eli feels fortunate that her marriage is one of real love and she thinks her children are the coolest people in the world. She also feels so lucky to have an extended family that is ever present with encouragement and kind words.
Eli completed coursework at USC-L, Columbia College, TAMU-CC, and George Mason University. She enjoyed a varied course load, but finally settled on Biology and focused on a career in lab research. She spent time in Texas volunteering at Flour Bluff Shrimp Mariculture Lab [and being paid in Pink Hawaiian Shrimp- which was, in a word, delicious.] and also spent time at NIH participating in an Animal Research Program in the Infectious Disease Dept. It took two years working in Histology/Pathology for Eli to realize she wanted to be a writer. She is still very interested in the Sciences and hopes to use her background knowledge effectively within her writing.
"This dystopian view of the world is harrowing and brilliant and impossible to put down. Smartly written and thought-provoking, it provides insight into how easily ethics can be compromised for personal gain making this seemingly far-fetched idea actually conceivable. The plot unfolds at a pace that keeps you hooked (though it does leave you wanting more). A must-read for anyone who likes smart, timely fiction with an Orwellian tint." - DasFrau's review of DRAG.N

CMT Stibbe
CMT Stibbe is the daughter and sister of two published authors. She writes books that explore flawed characters and is best known for her lyrical prose and detailed research. With her love of world travel from the UK to the Middle East, the Holy Land and the Far East, Claire makes her home in New Mexico, USA with her husband and son. Her first novel, Chasing Pharaohs, is a book of ancient Egypt and tells a loose tale of Pharaoh Thutmose II, which is a safe bet since no one knows a thing about him. Chasing Pharaohs was selected for review by Harper Collins in December 2011. Claire’s second book, The Snare of the Fowler, also set in the 18th Dynasty, is still in the editing and writing process. It was selected as Wednesday’s One to Watch by Harper Collins in December 2012.
"[CMT Stibbe has] clearly done [her] research. I never felt I was in an Egypt informed by Hollywood and clichés – pyramids and mummies and curses. Instead [Stibbe portrays] a vivid, ancient land, steeped in superstitious tradition, lavish royalty, with a diverse mix of peoples and cultures. [Stibbe has] a brilliant manner of writing flawed yet interesting characters that we invest in. - HarperCollins' review of Chasing Pharaohs
